Weekly Journal 8

 Day 1
14 October 2024
Monday

It was a fresh new day and I reached school by 9 10 am.  The day started with a prayer song by the school choir.  I entered the class with a pleasant face and greeted the students.  They greeted me back.  The chapter we were dealing with was Rosa Parks Sat Still written by Rosa Parks.  In order to create a mental readiness students were shown the picture of a bus from 1950s and ask students how they think people might have travelled during that time.  They responded and I gave reinforcements for their responds and then moved on to the chapter.  They were given meanings, asked scaffolding questions and they divided the whole class into groups and given an activity to prepare poster that captures the spirit of Rosa Parks.  Include quotes or symbols that represent her legacy.  They worked in groups and presented their works.  I edited where necessary and presented my version.  They were also given a homework.  The day continued with lost of events - our substitution duties, meal duties and exam duties. 

Day 2

Tuesday  

I reached the school by 9.20 am.  Mine was the first period in 8C.  The day started with prayer song by the school choir.  In order to  create a mental readiness among students I write the famous quotes from Rosa Parks on the blackboard such as "You must never be fearful about what  you are doing when it is right", and ask them to what they think while reading it.  Group activity given was to write a conversation between Rosa and another white passenger, forcing Rosa to stand up as per the rule of the bus.  We had our daily meals duties and substitutions and left the school by 3 40 pm.

Day 3

Wednesday

I reached the school by 9 15am.  The day started with the prayer song by the school choir.  The chapter we were dealing with was Rosa Parks sat still.  Entry activity given was to list out their acts of courage they have seen in their everyday life.  Group activity given was to prepare a letter by rosa to her friend from inside the jail about the bad experience in the bus.  They were also given an activity to wrote a short note on the Importance of Equality.

Day 4
17 October 2024
Thursday

I reached the school by 9 10 am.  The day started with a prayer song  by the school choir.  I had third period in 8C.   Inorder to create a mental readiness among students I shoed the the pictures of some freedom fighters and asked the students to identify them.  After the usual classroom procedure they were given a group activity to prepare a placard by other black people of  America to free Rosa from the jail.  After the daily duties we left the school by 3 45pm.

Day 5
18 October 2024
Friday

I reached the school by 9 10 am.  The day started with a prayer song  by the school choir.  I had seventh period in 8C.   Inorder to create a mental readiness among students I sowed them the picture of  Mahatma Gandhi ask  students to share their views about Gandhiji and his freedom struggle.  Discourse given was to prepare a newspaper report on Montgomery Bus Boycott and Rosa's arrest.  I left the school by 4 15pm.
