On the second day we reached there on time. Tuesdays and thursdays are op days and there were so many elderly people assembled for consultation. We made all the arrangements for their comforts and helped the staff. Those who consulted the doctor got free medicine. Then we met the inmates. We spend some time with them about their interests. A family sponsored the lunch and we served the meals for those who came on op. There was an interactive session with Dr Elizabeth Neena Ommen. She talked us about some common medicines used as pain reliefs. That was an interesting session and we also shared our knowledge on palliative care. Then we had our lunch. As  a part of our BEd curriculum 2023-2025 batch, we a group of 12 students were asked to conduct a four day Community Service Program from 29/01/2024 to 01/02/2024. It was our first day of our Community Service Program. The camp was held at Rajeshwary Foundation , Jagathy.  Our day started with a seminar by Adv Suresh Kumar about Geriatrics and gave a detailed description about the history and working of Rajeshwary Foundation.  We were provided with refreshments. After the session we were divided into a group of 2 and allowed us to visit their 3 palliative care centres.  All of them were neatly and maintained properly.  The staffs take good care of the inmates. We were provided with healthy meals. After that we were given a chance to talk to the inmates and interact with them. We had a different experience from this camp.

Today we celebrated our sports day at college. We began with a small assembly in which Naseer sir gave the inaugural speech and handed the torch light to the oldest boy and girl among us. The days activities were divided into two: the morning session for outdoor games and afternoon session for indoor games .The first event was short put for girls .Second event was 1000 mtr walking for boys . Third event was 500 mtr walking for girls followed by short put for boys . Then we had 50 mtr running for both boys and girls followed by 100 mtr race and discus throw for boys . Winners were given prize after each event by our beloved teachers. Refreshments were provided by our refreshment committee. Each and every one of the students displayed good sportsman spirit and gave their best in each event. After our lunch break we began the indoor games. Today was our first NSS programme. The venue was near Vembayam junction. The place was initially used for garbage dumping and unauthorised parking. We reached the place at 9 am and started cleaning the place . The place had a garbage collecting box set up by the corporation but the area nearby was covered in garbage. There is a small canal which had garbage and other kinds of dirt in it. We started cleaning the place using hoe and pickaxe. We dug out plastics and glass pieces from the area. A bamboo fence was made and was set across the waste collecting unit. We planted plants within the fence and watered them using the canal water . We were also accompanied by our physical education teacher Nishanth sir , Mrs.Liby Cheriyan , Mr. Naseer and Mr, Junaid. They provided us with proper instructions and made our first campaign a huge success. After seeing our work the local people assured us of taking care of the place and the plant's within it.
